Terraria State of the Game - October 2026
Posted on October 29th, 2026 01:10 PM EST

Greetings Terrarians!
It's spooky season once again - one of our favorite times of the year! We didn't quite get anything together in regards to a Halloween Contest this year, but we have a few contest ideas that might be coming your way soon - courtesy of our brand new Community Manager! More on that in a bit. On the development front, we have been putting the finishing touches on Crossplay Phase One. The Crossplay era of Terraria is drawing very close, and we will share some details on progress and timing in the development news section below. Beyond that, we are getting ready for the last few months of the year and setting plans in place for Crossplay Phase Two as well as what is to come after that. As always, you will want to stay tuned to State of the Game and all of our socials for all of the details as they arrive.
With all of that said... let's see what lies in wait on this year's trick or treat for Terraria news...

We put all of the finishing touches on Crossplay Phase One earlier this month and then dropped it into extensive testing. Given the scope of this update in regards to being a new feature that cuts across multiple platforms, we expect Terraria 1.4.6 will get tighter scrutiny during the submissions process. We had hoped to have the update in submission across all platforms earlier this week, but our latest round of tests uncovered a few things that will need to be addressed before we can do so. We do not expect this will take very long to address, but we do not have it ready as of the writing of this State of the Game. Most likely - and if all goes well - we should be back on track by next week.
Once in submission, we have no way to fully predict when it will be signed off by all of our first party partners. Once we have full signoff, we will push the big launch button and Terraria 1.4.6 - Crossplay Phase One will be in your hands at last!

The Terraria Community is legendary amongst video game communities. Your passion and creativity is second to none! So, when the opportunity arose to bring on board a new Community Manager for Terraria, we had to seek out only the very best. Without further ado, coming to us all the way from the world of vampires and more is none other than @Kerri the Rat Queen! Her reputation and past work speaks for itself, but rest assured that Team Terraria is beyond thrilled that she joined our crew.
We are turning the keys to the Community over into her very capable hands and we cannot wait to see what fun new ideas she will have in store. So, don't be shy and be sure that you take some time to welcome her to the Terraria Community! She went ahead and made a little intro thread (linked below), but we will let her say a few words here as well!
Hey Terrarians!
I’m Kerri (a.k.a. Rat Queen), the new Community Manager here at Re-Logic!
I'm over the moon to have joined the team here and I look forward to interacting with as many of you as humanly (ratly?) possible. For those that are curious, I will be handling social media posts and replies, helping on Terraria Community Forums, chatting in the Terraria Discord, helping with community events across the board, popping up on r/Terraria, appearing in Steam Forums, helping to report a few bugs, and anything else that I can assist with.
It has been such a pleasure interacting with everyone, watching how creative many people are in the community with builds, art work, videos, guides, memes, etc!
I’m a big fan of the Dryad, the Angler was not my friend until I handed in my 200th fishing quest (I'm still keeping my eye on him), and I think Terraria should have more rats!
Very much a mage build enjoyer, Arc Surge is now one of my favourite weapons because it's truly very satisfying to use.
I also do not so great drawings, so please look forward to those.
If you ever need help with something bug related, be sure to leave a bug report on TCF so we can log it for the devs. But if you ever need some technical assistance for Terraria, feel free to ping me on discord in terraria-help (as long as you don’t ping in a disruptive manner) and I’ll do my best to help!
And, if you ever make fan art, builds, or anything you'd like to share please tag me on TCF/Reddit, or the Terraria account on socials so I can give it some love.
How did she become the Rat Queen? Why Rats? Why not? What other mysteries exist in the Ratdom?

Hello everyone!
On November 1st the regular monthly update release of tModLoader for 1.4.4 will go live. It contains more security hardening features and changes to how library mods are presented to the user. The preview for this month also contains long-awaited modded grass support hooks and examples.
Progress on the 1.4.5 update continues at a rapid pace. We know it has been a while, but there is much to do. We'd like to thank everyone for the huge amount of community participation and contributions for the 1.4.5 update and are extremely grateful for those willing to help with this process through code contributions, bug reporting, testing, and participating in the discussions that take place on Discord. The tModLoader team will continue to work with experienced modders to progress towards the tModLoader 1.4.5 release.
There are still many tasks to be done. If you are interested in contributing code for the 1.4.5 update, the 1.4.5 Update Information page[github.com] has information on how to contribute and what tasks remain to be done. That page also explains how to join the "1.4.5-dev" beta branch on Steam to test out the current state of the update. Users can join that beta branch to help identify and report remaining bugs.
Modders and users should also keep an eye out for our monthly Steam announcement on the 1st where a complete listing of bug fixes and API changes for this month's release will be listed. The in-game news button on the main menu will direct you directly to the announcement once it is live.
We look forward to seeing how mods make use of these new features. As always, if you are having issues of any sort, definitely don't hesitate to check out our FAQ on github[github.com] or reach out to us at our Discord[discord.com].

[terraria.shop]As a lot of you already know, preorders for the Terraria 15th Anniversary Collector's Edition closed at the end of August. But we do still have some extras available which can still be ordered. Once those are sold, it's gone for good! If you're still debating about whether to grab one, we'd like to share some fresh teaser images which could help in your decision.
Here are some closeups of the Re-Game Cartridge, with a removable updated faceplate, to reveal your Terraria game token.
And, the Life Crystal... which now comes as a mini light, giving off a subtle glow!
(We are still having a think about how we might make some things - like the cartridge and the bunny pet, for example - available somehow more long term.)
