Terraria State of the Game - September 2026
Posted on September 24th, 2026 04:47 PM EST

Greetings Terrarians!
Wow, what a month it has been for our little team! A few of us went on a multi-week international odyssey (more on that below) that started with Gamescom and ended up in China! The rest of the team has been hard at work putting the finishing touches on Crossplay Phase One alongside a handful of lingering fixes that remain from 1.4.5.8. We have a strong plan moving forward, and we cannot wait to share it all with you! For now, enjoy some pics from the road alongside the latest and greatest Terraria news. Crossplay - Phase One should be in your hands in the near future!
On with the show!

With Crossplay in the imminent future, it makes sense to combine the Developer Update sections of State of the Game into one moving forward. If there are any major things that only apply to one platform or another, we will call those out in this section. That said, what a time to be a Terrarian, right? Remember when Console and Mobile were months (or years) behind PC? We are so glad that is no longer the case. The finishing touches are being put on Crossplay Phase One as we speak - we expect that submission to be ready in the near future (of course, we will share the moment this occurs!). The plan is to try and get Phase Two in as soon as possible behind Phase One - but we just might have a little something for everyone in between the two. Stay tuned for what that might be!

Right after Gamescom, a few members of the Re-Logic team had the chance to participate in the TapTap Game Fest 2026 in Shanghai. Believe it or not, this was actually the first formal fan event that our team has been a part of since way back in 2011 when Red was doing a handful of press interviews solo alongside the launch of Terraria. To say that we were overwhelmed with the sheer number, passion, and positivity of the fans in China would be the understatement of a lifetime. For everyone that had a chance to attend and meet us, thank you so much for your hospitality and for sharing what Terraria means to you. We walked away fired up for the future of the game, our studio, and already looking forward to the next chance for our team to meet the fans. What really became clear to all of us was the notion that - though we may be separated by languages, cultures, and geography - deep down, we are all Terrarians. Having our game be that tie that binds so many people together is so humbling, it is hard to put it into words. Thank you once again for allowing us into that corner of your lives.
We have included a few highlight images below. No doubt, you can find countless more on Bilibili and beyond...
The team had two on-stage sessions - nerve-wracking, but a lot of fun!
Stage Session two covered a lot of development topics
Hanging out in the Terraria Booth!
Speaking of the Terraria Booth... how awesome is this!?
We signed a lot of things and hung out with so many amazing fans!
Of course, we had a bit of time to check out the sights in Shanghai and beyond - and those sights were quite amazing! There are far too many photos and videos we could share - but we would encourage fans to look around and see what all might be out there. Speaking of which, here is a quick highlight video of our two stage interview panels...
All that said, all of the teams are back in the office and hard at work on Crossplay and beyond - we hope you enjoyed at least a brief glimpse at our time on the road in Gamescom and China!

Hello everyone!
On October 1st the regular monthly update release of tModLoader for 1.4.4 will go live. It contains mainly bugfixes.
The tModLoader team has spent much of this last month updating our 1.4.5 preview branch with all of the 1.4.5.8 hotfix changes. Despite being a hotfix, there were quite a lot of code changes to adapt to.
We are continuing to see a huge amount of community participation and contributions for the 1.4.5 update and are extremely grateful for those willing to help with this process through code contributions, bug reporting, testing, and participating in the discussions that take place on Discord. The tModLoader team will continue to work with experienced modders to progress towards the tModLoader 1.4.5 release.
This process as well as any other big changes desired by the modding community for this update will take many months still. There are still many tasks to be done, if you are interested in contributing code for the 1.4.5 update, the 1.4.5 Update Information page[github.com] has information on how to contribute and what tasks remain to be done. That page also explains how to join the "1.4.5-dev" beta branch on Steam to test out the current state of the update. Users can join that beta branch to help identify and report remaining bugs.
Modders and users should also keep an eye out for our monthly Steam announcement on the 1st where a complete listing of bug fixes and API changes for this month's release will be listed. The in-game news button on the main menu will direct you directly to the announcement once it is live.
We look forward to seeing how mods make use of these new features. As always, if you are having issues of any sort, definitely don't hesitate to check out our FAQ on github[github.com] or reach out to us at our Discord[discord.com].

[terraria.shop]We are blown away at the reception that the Terraria 15th Anniversary Collector's Edition received from all of you. Sadly, we have reached the end of the preorder phase, but due to how ordering from the factory works, we are likely to have some over-run Collector's Editions available. That said, once these are gone, that is it. So, if you have been on the fence about picking up this amazing CE, this is truly your last chance!
(We are still having a think about how we might make some things - like the cartridge and the bunny pet, for example - available somehow more long term.)
